Andy Henry

Andy is a writer, director, performer and dramaturg whose work encompasses historical research, site-specific performance and the creative interpretation of archival material. He holds a PhD in Theatre Studies from the University of Glasgow and an MA in Theatre Practice from Aberystwyth University.

Alongside his creative practice, Andy lectures in Drama and Performance at Queen Margaret University, specialising in theatre history, performance theory, site-specific practice and performance archives. He has collaborated with the Traverse Theatre, Capital Theatres, Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre.

For Flight of the Heron, Andy has adapted D. K. Broster’s novel for the stage and is co-directing the production with Sarah.

Sarah Paulley
Sarah Paulley

Sarah is an experienced theatre designer, production manager and educator. After studying History at the University of Oxford, she trained in spatial design at the Architectural Association and in theatrical design at the Motley Theatre Design School in London.
Sarah is an experienced theatre designer, production manager and educator. After studying History at the University of Oxford, she trained in spatial design at the Architectural Association and in theatrical design at the Motley Theatre Design School in London.
Sarah has worked professionally as a designer and production manager throughout the UK, collaborating with theatre companies and multidisciplinary performance projects in Scotland and Northern Ireland. She has also developed and led theatre design training, including a long-running summer school hosted by The Arches in Glasgow.

Sarah now teaches Drama and Performance at Queen Margaret University, specialising in scenography and the creative possibilities of site-specific performance. For Flight of the Heron, she is designing the production and co-directing alongside Andy.
